Reports broke late last night that the Philadelphia Flyers signed forward Jakub Voracek to a 4 year, $17M extension ($4.25M AAV).
After failing to acquire Shea Weber from Nashville, Philadelphia wasted no time. They got right back down to business by resigning their young gun Jakub Voracek.
The Flyers acquired Voracek last offseason from Columbus in the Jeff Carter deal. Since putting on a Flyers uniform, Voracek has only impressed. In 78 games this year, Voracek put up 18 goals and 31 assists for 49 total points. The 22 year old was fifth on the team in scoring that featured star forwards Claude Giroux and Jaromir Jagr. He played very consistent throughout the season and came up big in the playoffs against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The scariest part about Voracek’s game is that he’s only 22. He is very talented but will only be getting better. Under the Flyers, Voracek will develop into a star player. Expect him to learn from the coaching staff and current players Giroux, Danny Briere, Scott Hartnell, and Maxime Talbot.
Will a developed Voracek help lead the Flyers back to the Stanley Cup Final?
