The Florida Panthers announced they have signed forward Peter Mueller to a 1 year, $1.725M contract.
Last month, Colorado cut ties with Mueller by not extending him a qualifying offer. This was clearly because of his injury filled past including bouts with concussions and concussion like symptoms.
The Florida Panthers are taking a risk signing Mueller. But with a one year contract and a low salary cap hit, it is a high reward situation. If Mueller can stay healthy, he will produce alongside the Panthers top forwards including Tomas Fleischmann, Stephen Weiss, and Kris Versteeg. Mueller along with the entire Panthers organization is hoping his concussions are a thing of the past.
The Panthers are coming off a Southeast Division championship, but were eliminated in the first round by the New Jersey Devils. Though the Panthers played in a weaker division, they were dominate throughout the season. Mueller will add depth scoring and make the Panthers an even harder team to play against.
Will Mueller be able to stay healthy and help the Panthers make a deeper playoff run?
