This morning, the NHL released the entire schedule of the 2012-2013 NHL season, barring no set back from any possible labor dispute. As the proposed conference realignment was blocked, the conferences will remain the same for this season. I’ve picked out some big games to mark down on your calendars so make sure you don’t miss them!
First Day of Regular Season, October 11 – The 2012-2013 NHL season opens with four games on the schedule before the rest of the league starts the next day. Highlights from this night include Philadelphia at Boston and Ottawa at Montreal.
New York Rangers at Los Angeles Kings, October 12 – The Kings season and home opener where they will have a pregame ceremony to raise their 2011-2012 Stanley Cup Championship banner.
Los Angeles Kings at Boston Bruins, December 17 – This game highlights the past two winners of the Stanley Cup. Its bound to be an exciting game featuring two of the best teams in the league.
Winter Classic: Toronto Maple Leafs at Detroit Red Wings, January 1 – The Maple Leafs and Red Wings will square off at the University of Michigan’s football stadium. Nicknamed “The Big House” as there is a capacity of over 110,000 people. This will be the largest crowd to ever attend a hockey game.
NHL All Star Weekend, January 24-28 – Columbus will host the 2013 All-Star festivities this season. The star players will make this a very memorable events.
Los Angeles Kings at New Jersey Devils, February 9 – The rematch of last season’s Stanley Cup Finals has to wait until February. Will the Kings continue their dominance from this past year or will the Devils get a little revenge?
Last Day of Regular Season, April 13 – On the last day of the regular season, 28 of the league’s 30 teams are in action. Many are playing division or conference rivals. Games on this day may decide playoff berths or seedings.
