Chris Pronger will be out approximately a month with a knee injury. He is getting surgery today on the same knee that he had arthroscopic surgery on last July. Pronger should be back just in time for the 2012 NHL Winter Classic.
Paul Holmgren, the Flyers GM, said, “This has been an issue probably for the last month or so, It’s been nagging and (Pronger’s) been playing through it up until this recent battle with his virus. We kind of believed that he’d be doing rehabilitation on a daily basis and with some medicine he would start to feel better, but Chris saw the doctor and we just decided that this was the time to get this taken care of.”
This is bad news for the Flyers as they are losing their number one defenseman. Pronger has already missed two weeks this season after getting a stick to the face. The Flyers will have to rally around themselves to continue winning as their division rivals, the Penguins, have gotten Sidney Crosby back and are on fire.
