Harding Shuts Down Competition This Week

First Star – Josh Harding

Josh Harding had a tremendous week for the Minnesota Wild posting a 3-0 record allowing just one goal against in each.  Playing every other day versus the Detroit Red Wings, Vancouver Canucks, and St. Louis Blues, Harding was about to shut down the opposing offenses.  He is now 4-0-1 on the season with a 1.18GAA.  Look for Harding to be solid between the Minnesota pipes all season long.

Second Star – Loui Eriksson

Loui just played two games this week but he dominated those two games.  Against Colorado, Loui had two goals and an assist.  Two days later, Loui set up three goals in a win against the Carolina Hurricanes.  Eriksson now has eight goals and fifteen points on the season and has been dominating all the teams he’s facing.

Third Star – Nicklas Backstrom

Nicklas Backstrom put up a total of six points this week in three games.  He put up two goals against the Anaheim Ducks, a goal and an assist against the Carolina Hurricanes, and added two assists against the New York Islanders.  Backstrom has helped lead the Capitals offensively.  His individual points and team points are both ranked third in the league.

Team of the Week – New York Rangers

The Rangers went 4-0 this week compiling wins against San Jose, Anaheim, Montreal, and Winnipeg.  They were led by their offense which exploded for fifteen goals in those four games.  Henrik Lundqvist provided solid goaltending to back up the offense.  Look for the Rangers to climb the standings even more and finish either first or second in the Atlantic Division.
