Wisniewski and Staubitz Face Disciplinary Hearing

Both the Blue Jacket’s James Wisniewski and the Wild’s Brad Staubitz have been suspended indefinitely pending a disciplinary hearing with Brendan Shanahan, the NHL’s Senior Vice President of Player Safety.

At the end of regulation of what was a 3-3 tie between the Blue Jackets and Wild, Wisniewski was given a minor penalty for an illegal check to the head of Minnesota forward Cal Clutterbuck.  The Wild scored the game winning goal while Wisniewski was in the box.

Earlier in the game, Brad Staubitz received a five minute major game misconduct for hitting the Blue Jacket’s Cody Bass from behind.  Cody was able to come back later in the third period.

These players aren’t using their heads.  Just a few days ago, Brendan Shanahan set a high standard of play by suspending Leblond and Shelley for a combined total of sixteen games.  Shanahan isn’t going to go easy on these players for their dumb, selfish play that put the opposing players in danger.  My opinion is that Wisniewski will get suspended for the rest of the preseason and two regular season games and Staubitz will be suspended for the remainder of the preseason and three regular season games.

More to Come..
