Not much going on in the hockey world today.
- Montreal’s goalie situation is a little puzzling. Earlier this month, they traded playoff hero Jaroslav Halak to the Blues so Carey Price could be the official starter. We would think signing the RFA Price would be at the top of their GM, Martin, to do list, but no deal has been signed yet. Contract talks are slow because Price is asking for more money than what the Canadians want to pay. Most likely, the Canadians will cave in because they won’t want to potentially lose their long term future goaltender.
- The Blackhawks are still trying to lower the current salary so they can sign Niemi to a deal he deserves. They’ve already lost many players from the Stanley Cup winning team and losing Niemi would be a backbreaker.
- The Islanders, Predators, and Sabres are all interested in both Cogliano and Stempniak.
